Arson suspect caught on video setting Buick on fire in Colina del Sol

The Colina de Sol arson suspect as seen in a resident s video just before throwing lit material into the car Photo courtesy of OnScene TV Police are seeking a man seen on video Saturday current a car window in Colina del Sol and in an apparent act of revenge pouring liquid on the car and setting it ablaze Flames promptly blew back from the conveyance however and may have burned the suspect according to OnScene TV Investigators are checking with local hospitals to see if anyone fitting his description has sought cure San Diego firefighters responded to the Pacific Grove Apartments on Oak Crest Drive at about a m to find the Buick fully engulfed They put out the fire before it spread to other vehicles A resident provided agents with footage of the man who set the fire The video shows the suspect walking up to the compact SUV and using a small sledgehammer to repeatedly pound the driver s side window until it breaks Using a gas can he douses the conveyance with fuel and throws the can inside OnScene broadcasted He then lights what appears to be paper or cloth and throws it inside the Buick but flames burst back back through the windows possibly causing burns to the suspect s face He recoils and runs away leaving the sledgehammer behind The suspect is described as a homeless man who had been allowed to stay with a woman and her family for several months but then was kicked out The bus apparently belongs to that family The Metro Arson Strike Club is probing The charred Buick after firefighters put out the flames Photo courtesy of OnScene TV
